Stop Illegal Housing in Rockland County
Secretary of State Rosado:
I join Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski in urging the State of New York to open up a full 381 investigation into the pervasive lack of code enforcement in certain Rockland Municipalities. The Town of Ramapo and the Village of Spring Valley have completely failed in their duties to ensure the safety of buildings and development. This failure has created a life threatening and dangerous situation for residents and first responders. Furthermore, the pervasive nature of this problem threatens our home values and the character of our communities. I urge the State to immediately order a moratorium on building permits and/or temporary CO’s in these municipalities, open up a full investigation and consider appointing a separate government or authority to enforce building and fire codes. We must take long term, definitive steps to protect Rockland residents.
