Assemblymember Cahill Reminds Area Residents About Ellenville Job Fair
August 3, 2004
Assemblymember Kevin Cahill (D-Ulster, Dutchess) would like to inform and remind area residents that the Village of Ellenville, in conjunction with the Town of Wawarsing, will host a Job Fair on Thursday, August 5, 2004 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Ellenville Village Hall on 81 North Main Street. This event is in response to the July 29, 2004 closing of the Imperial Schrade Company of Ellenville and the resulting displacement of an estimated 250 employees.
Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan and Supervisor James Dolaway have arranged to have employers representing the health care, manufacturing and warehouse fulfillment industries on site to meet with and interview prospective employees. They anticipate that there could be close to 100 positions available.
"I commend Village and Town officials for their immediate and positive action in response to this devastating economic news," Mr. Cahill noted. "I urge any interested candidates to mark this date on their calendar and take advantage of this terrific opportunity," he concluded.
