Chair, Insurance Committee
June 18th Deadline to Apply for Flood Relief
June 13, 2005
Assemblymember Kevin A. Cahill (D-Ulster and Dutchess Counties) would like to alert area residents of the upcoming final deadline for filing applications with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for flood assistance. FEMA will stop taking new registrations on Saturday, June 18, 2005.
"The unprecedented amount of damage caused by the April floods forced hundreds of people from their homes and led to the declaration of a Federal Disaster Area in many counties located in the greater Hudson Valley, Catskill region and Southern Tier," Assemblymember Cahill stated. "I encourage everyone affected by the flooding to apply for FEMA aid, regardless of whether or not a person believes they qualify."
Applications can be filed at the FEMA registration site located at the Town of Ulster Town Hall, or by calling the toll free registration number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
