Assemblymember Kevin Cahill announced today that Dominick Olivo, an Ulster County resident has been selected for the Youth of the Year Award, by the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston. A recent three day event held in Albany, was the setting of a New York State competition, with 52 young people entered and hoping to be chosen as Youth of the Year within their local Boys & Girls Club organizations.
Assemblymember Cahill said, “This is a huge process that involves the kids going through an official interview that includes a variety of community leaders and government officials where they are judged on school, community, family, church, and club activities.”
Joe Fay, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston, added that “many of the kids have faced and overcome, life challenging obstacles both physical and emotional with guidance and social interaction through the Boys & Girls Club. Dominick Olivo, 18, exemplifies the best efforts of all our members to lead happy and productive lives. With the assistance of our dedicated staff and many volunteers, Dominick has become an inspiration to those who know and work with him.
“I am pleased to have had the continuing support and strong commitment to the work of the Boys & Girls Club in New York State from Assemblymember Kevin Cahill,” Fay stated.
