Assembly Committee Chairs Stand Behind Preliminary Findings on Indian Point
Expert Testimony Backs Initial Assessment and Need for Further Analysis
February 10, 2012
Albany – Assemblymember Kevin Cahill, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Energy, and Assemblymember James Brennan, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions, released the following statement backing the preliminary findings of their January 12th hearing on plans for the potential closure of the Indian Point Energy Center:
"It is no surprise that apologists for Indian Point and the nuclear industry would take issue with our preliminary findings. Rather than simply attack our preliminary findings, we urge Entergy to come clean and provide answers to the legitimate questions we raise.
“We are going to continue to analyze the many important matters related to the potential closure of the facilities and welcome any additional objective information that will further the public’s understanding of the issue.”
