(Albany) Assemblymember Kevin Cahill (D – Ulster, Dutchess) announced the confirmation of Joseph Kelly and John Parete as members of the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) today. ORDA is tasked with managing ski centers across the state, and recently added Belleayre Ski Center to the facilities under its purview.
“I have had the pleasure of knowing Joe and John for many years, and I could not think of better people to be selected for the Authority,” said Assemblymember Cahill. “Furthermore, I am pleased that two people with intimate knowledge of Belleayre Mountain and our region will be involved in future decision making.”
Assemblymember Cahill has been a strong advocate for local representation on the ORDA board following the association with Belleayre. Joe Kelly is the Chairman of the Coalition to Save Belleayre and John Parete is an Ulster County Legislator.
“Both Joe and John understand the importance of this world class resort to the economy of not only the Route 28 corridor, but our region as a whole,” said Assemblymember Cahill. “Whether it be for skiing, hiking, biking or musical entertainment, people from all over turn to Belleayre Mountain to satisfy these desires and I am confident that the future of the resort will be in capable hands under these two outstanding individuals.”
