(Kingston, NY) –The Office of Assemblymember Kevin A. Cahill (D-Ulster, Dutchess) is hosting a Book Drive to benefit children in need for the Holiday season. In a continuing effort to promote reading to young people in the community after the Summer Reading Program has ended, Cahill’s office plans to collect a number of new and well kept, slightly read books for children ages 3 to 16 for donations that will be made to local area shelters this December.
Books in good condition will be collected continuously from Monday, November 5, 2012 through Friday, December 7, 2012 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM in the District Office located in the Governor Clinton Building at 1 Albany Avenue, Suite G-4, Kingston, NY 12401. The office will stay open until 7:00PM on Wednesday, December 5th for an after hours drop. Assemblymember Cahill urges local businesses, schools and residents to participate.
“Teaching our children the value of donating and volunteering is critical to the future of our great State and our Nation,” said Assemblymember Cahill. “During this special time of giving and receiving, you have the opportunity to make the holiday season brighter for the youngsters of our community. Whether you can afford a new book or a slightly used childhood favorite, your contribution can put a smile on a child's face.”
