Assemblymember Kevin Cahill (D-Kingston) would like to remind area students and parents alike to take part in his New York State Assembly-sponsored Summer Reading Challenge. Brochures detailing the program that include a calendar to track daily progress were distributed in June to all district schools serving grades one through six.
“We are hoping for a high level of participation again this year. This is an opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time reading together. Plans are in the works for an awards celebration in early fall with prizes and certificates for all who complete the program,” Mr. Cahill said. “The Assembly Summer Reading Challenge is a terrific way for students to stay interested and entertained during the summer months. Past experience has shown that children are excited, parents are involved and reading happens,” he concluded.
Anyone with questions is asked to call Kathy Keyser at Assemblymember Cahill’s District Office at (845) 338-9610. If you would like to join the Summer Reading Challenge, please contact the office in Kingston. Happy reading!
