Assemblymember Cahill Announces $250,000 Grant for Mid-Hudson Family Health Institute Ellenville Facility

December 2, 2003

Assemblymember Kevin Cahill (D-Kingston) has announced that the Mid-Hudson Family Health Institute will receive $250,000 through the New York State Assembly Strategic Investment Program. This grant will be used to aid in the construction of a sizeable addition to their Family Practice Center in Ellenville.

"This award comes at a critical juncture in the development of a much-needed rural health network in our area," said Mr. Cahill. "Plans call for providing clinical space that will allow the Institute to attract specialists from the Kingston and Westchester communities to this region to provide specialty services in the areas of Ophthalmology, Oncology/Hematology, Endocrinology, Urology, Cardiology and general surgery. This expansion will enhance access to care and facilitate coordination of services for area residents."

"I am greatly appreciative of the fine work Assemblyman Cahill continues to do to support the provision of medical and dental services to the underserved populations of Ulster County. His ongoing efforts to promote quality health care for all citizens of New York State are in concert with the stated mission of The Mid Hudson Family Health Institute," concluded Dr. David Mesches, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute.
