Butler Supports New York’s Correction Officers at Rally
March 24, 2010
Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R,I,C – Newport) joined upstate New York correction officers at a rally in Albany. The rally was assembled to fight back against the governor’s executive budget which calls for the closure of several upstate correctional facilities.
“Correctional facilities are crucial to Upstate New York’s economy, and it is imperative that we continue proper staffing of these facilities,” said Butler. “I will continue to work with correction officers and my legislative colleagues to ensure that these facilities are safe and secure for the people who work in and live around these facilities,” concluded Butler.
Last year, the Assembly Minority Conference held a series of correction task force meetings throughout New York state. During these meetings, Assemblyman Butler and his colleagues heard testimony from dedicated rank-and-file officers and civilian employees who keep correctional facilities across the state safe and secure.
