Butler On Ethics Bill

Statement from Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R,C,I-Newport)
June 13, 2011

“The ethics legislation that was presented today is not perfect, but it is beginning to move New York in a positive direction. There have been many troubling issues not only in New York politics, but nationally, and I believe voters are tired of the shenanigans of some misbehaving politicians who are more focused on their personal gain rather than doing the people’s work.

“I’m glad to see that income disclosure requirements have broadened in scope to make sure we can identify possible conflicts of interest in our political leaders. I also am pleased to support the revocation of pensions for criminal public officials. It’s the right step, and I continue to work on the matter to ensure better ethics laws in this state.”
