Statement on Remington Arms

A recent Associated Press article quotes me as saying an assault weapon ban could cost up to 300 jobs at Remington Arms in Ilion. While I am very concerned about the impact of any additional gun control measures on the products that Remington legally manufactures, the quote stems from a private conversation with a reporter which I was unaware would be used as the basis for a news article.
I am in no position to make any representations on behalf of Remington Arms and, in fact, Remington is no longer in my Assembly District. My statements were purely speculative and were not intended for quote or attribution.
