Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R,C,I-Newport) met with workers from the Remington Arms factory who were attending the #NY2A Day rally in Albany.
“Gov. Cuomo’s gun control law was an insult and a violation of the rights of all law-abiding gun owners. These men and women have the right to be heard by those in Albany, which is why we had the #NY2A Day,” said Butler. “I recently held two well-attended informational sessions on the governor’s ill-conceived law and people are very unhappy. Today, they will help spread this message in Albany.”
Butler’s informational sessions in Herkimer and Fulton counties drew nearly 1,000 residents. Time and time again, gun owners voiced serious concerns about the impact the gun control will have on their rights, their jobs – especially those employed by Remington Arms, the largest employer in the Mohawk Valley – and their taxes. Implementation of the governor’s law will cost taxpayers $36 million, which Butler argues should be put to better use, such as ensuring that employers like Remington Arms can continue to grow jobs in the region.
