Too Much Is Unknown About Cuomo’s Casino Plan, Says Butler
June 21, 2013
Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R,C,I-Newport) is calling for more transparency in Gov. Cuomo’s casino plan. Butler recently polled constituents in his district, and while many are undecided on the expansion of casino gaming, many oppose the recent agreement made between the state and the Oneida Indian Nation, which promises that no competition will be allowed in the central region of the state. Overall, the assemblyman’s constituents asked for more information than they feel they are receiving.
“When it comes to such a drastic expansion of gambling in our state, New Yorkers deserve the full story of how it will impact the state and our economy,” said Butler. “I am asking that the governor be more forthright with all of us. Governor, please tell us where the casinos will be sited, tell us how you are going to ensure that New York will receive a portion of the revenue windfall, and what is your plan of action in the event that things don’t go as planned? We need the full story.”
