Assemblyman Mark Johns (R,C-Webster) today attended a presentation of Governor Cuomo’s 2012-13 Executive Budget proposal by Matt Driscoll, president of New York’s Environmental Facilities Corporation. The assemblyman applauded efforts by state officials to include the 135th Assembly District in the budget process; however, he has reservations about the spending plan in its current form.
“The people of our state must know how Albany spends our hard-earned tax dollars,” said Johns. “Much like many families in our community, state government must continue to tighten its belt. We have the opportunity to make New York government run leaner and more efficiently. We must lift mandates and regulations, which have been a burden on our community, while ensuring that aid and quality-of-life services continue to be second to none.”
Lawmakers in the Assembly have started Joint Budget Committee hearings. Assemblyman Johns welcomes input from his constituents, who can email ideas or concerns to johnsm@assembly.state.ny.us.
