"Our voices have power when heard but can also be very powerful in its absence. In passing this resolution we raise our voices in support of the LGBT community in our schools, and we pass the baton to the students in our schools, who  by withholding their  voices on April 21st ,will demonstrate in no uncertain terms their support for our LGBT community in an effort to end the harassment, the bullying, and the violence that still continues to this day," said Assemblyman Matthew Titone in support of his resolution that would declare April 21, 2017 as a Day of Silence in the state of New York on which students take a vow to remain silent for a full day in order bring attention to the  harassment and  discrimination  faced  by  lesbian,  gay, bisexual, and transgender people in schools (K.263)
