Dear Chancellor Walcott:
You’ve made opening new middle schools a top priority of your administration. I stand with Assembly Member Micah Kellner and Upper East Side parents calling upon you to open a new middle school in the P.S. 158 Annex by September 2012.
We have had great successes in setting up three elementary schools in partnership with the Department of Education. We know we can repeat that achievement with a new middle school this year.
A new academically rigorous middle school is the only choice for the P.S. 158 Annex.
We will not allow the P.S. 158 Annex to become the overflow elementary school for the neighborhood and we definitely will not accept a charter school here.
A new middle school is what our Upper East Side children need now.
Enough is enough, Chancellor Walcott — let’s stop the Middle School Madness.
