President Bush is Turning His Back on Staten Islands’ Children
October 4, 2007
“President Bush’s veto of expanding SCHIP eligibility shows a lack of compassion for our children, not only in New York, but across the country. With health care costs what they are today, the reality is, even middle-class families are struggling with the costs of keeping kids healthy. This ill-conceived veto will leave an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 Staten Island children without health coverage.
I stand with the Governor in his efforts to sue the federal government if this veto is not overturned. We need to do all we can to ensure that our families have access to quality, affordable health care for our children. They deserve nothing less.”
