Assemblyman Michael Cusick in conjunction with Linda Baran, President of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, announced a discount program for Veterans of the United States Military who live in Richmond County.
“Veterans of the United States Military have given above and beyond their fair share to our country. The sacrifices they have made cannot be quantified, nor fully repaid. Still, I feel there is more we can do on a local level to show our gratitude. This program is a great start” said Cusick.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Staten Island Veteran’s who are interested in the program will be asked to sign up at Assemblyman Cusick’s office (1911 Richmond Ave, 718-370-1384) with their discharge papers (DD214) and receive the Staten Island VETS card. This card will give you access to discounts at local businesses who have signed up for the program. Participants will receive a listing of participating businesses that will offer you discount at their establishment. Assemblyman Cusick’s office will provide the local VFW, American Legion, and public libraries updated lists as new businesses join the program throughout the year.
Businesses wishing to offer a discount should contact the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce for more details (718-727-1900). They will receive a decal identifying them as a participant, and will be listed on the websites of both Assemblyman Cusick and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce for the duration of their participation. Businesses will be able to offer whatever discount they see fit.
