Fitzpatrick: Those Facing Heroin Addiction Need Help And Action

Statement from Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick (R,C,I-Smithtown)

“Heroin addiction is a pervasive problem that deserves attention and action. My Assembly Minority colleagues and I invited testimony and listened closely to families who are dealing with the tragic consequences of opioid addiction on Long Island and across the state. We made serious and solid proposals earlier this year, yet the Assembly Majority has yet to act on numerous and practical solutions. Our proposals address measures to get these illicit drugs out of our communities and to provide more access to life-changing treatments and programs for those facing heroin addiction. The Senate is acting, and the governor is even announcing his findings; still, the Assembly Majority refuses to act. This failure to provide help for so many New Yorkers is disappointing. We must address the heroin epidemic now.”
