Assemblyman Montesano Statement On Late State Budget
“The state’s 2010 spending plan is a week late, and counting,” said Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head). “The majority has blocked progress, sown partisan discord, and failed to even announce a schedule of public budget hearings. A broken budget process not only breaks statutory law – a 2007 reform act requires the Senate majority leader and Assembly speaker to publicly release a budget schedule within 10 days of the governor submitting his proposed spending plan – but also hurts the economy by suspending construction projects on Long Island and slashing jobs.
