Montesano Bill To Increase Clean Water, Parks Passes Assembly
June 19, 2012

Legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) to transfer a parcel of parkland known as the Tiffany Creek Preserve to the Oyster Bay Water District passed the Assembly today. Having passed the Senate earlier this week, this soon-to-be enacted bill will allow the Oyster Bay Water District to construct a much-needed well to facilitate the supply of clean drinking water in Nassau County. Nassau County will be receiving nearly five acres of parkland from New York State as compensation.

“Allowing the Oyster Bay Water District to utilize the Tiffany Creek Preserve is crucial to providing clean drinking water to the residents of Nassau County,” said Montesano. “In return, the county will be receiving land from the state that will actually provide more open space for our communities to enjoy. I’m pleased we were able to take action on this front to not only ensure a clean drinking water supply for our residents for years to come, but also increase the amount of beautiful park properties Nassau County is known for.”
