"I would be remiss if I did not mention Ivan Lafayette, who was the dean of the Queens delegation for so many years, and Helen Marshall, who often talked about the bill that she and my predecessor, Nettie Mayersohn, introduced that said grandparents could take their grandchildren from their parents if they felt they weren't being treated properly. So, I always had a kindred spirit with Helen and Ivan …  and, of course, Bill Nojay," said Assemblyman Michael Simanowitz, while recalling deceased members of the New York State Assembly.
