January 4, 2008
Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Fran Reid and Patty Katz visit the Brookhaven Municipal Recycling Facility.
Great Neck – Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel is hosting an environmental event that will give you the tips you need to make your life healthier, happier and greener almost immediately! On Thursday, January 10th at Great Neck House at 7pm, Michelle will be joined by Laura Weinberg, President of the Great Neck Breast Cancer Coalition, Fran Reid and Patty Katz of Reach Out America, and Frank Morris, executive director of LI Sierra Club Foundation for a panel discussion on recycling, reducing your carbon footprint (we’ll explain), and simple ways to reduce toxic exposures in the home. Michelle, Fran and Patty will describe their dramatic visit to the Brookhaven Municipal Recycling Facility where they got a glimpse of a two story mountain of plastic containers. A display of environmentally friendly products will be on hand as well as canvas shopping bags for your purchase. Join us for a fun filled way to dispel some urban myths about being Green without feeling guilty about not doing enough. Together, one step at a time, we can impact our environment for the better. The event is co-sponsored by the Great Neck Park District, the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, Great Neck Breast Cancer Coalition, Manhasset-Lakeville Water and Fire District, North Shore-LIJ Health System, Reach Out America and Sierra Club Foundation, Whole Foods Market. If you have any questions please contact Assemblywoman Schimel’s office 482-6966.
