December 22, 2008

Great Neck – Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel invites the 16th Assembly District to open their hearts to the annual Valentines for Vets Program. Valentines for Vets is a district wide effort to show the veterans who have served our country that they are appreciated and have not been forgotten.

With your generosity, last year’s program was a record breaking success. We were able to deliver truckloads of incredible merchandise and beautiful handmade cards to the Veterans Home in Stonybrook and the Veterans Hospital in Northport.

“There is no better way to show our veterans how much we appreciate the sacrifices they have made than to show them that they are not forgotten,” said Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, a member of the Assembly’s Veterans Affairs Committee.

Suggested items include handmade valentines, non-slip socks, men’s winter hats, gloves, scarves, patriotic caps or t-shirts, disposable cameras, sweatpants and sweatshirts, bathrobes and toiletries. Only new items will be accepted.

Please bring donations to Assemblywoman Schimel’s District Office located at 45 North Station Plaza, Suite 203 in Great Neck.

For further information about the program please contact Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel’s District Office at 516-482-6966.
