Assemblywoman Schimel Addresses
Police Conference of New York
March 26, 2010

Albany – Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel recently spoke about her microstamping legislation at a monthly meeting of the Police Conference of New York (PCNY), held in Albany. Established in 1925, PCNY has a membership of 220 cities, towns, villages and counties throughout the state. Assemblywoman Schimel was joined by Jackie Hilly, a former Assistant District Attorney and the Executive Director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV). The microstamping bill (A. 6468B/S. 6005), which passed the Assembly with bipartisan support, awaits approval by the Senate. The legislation requires all semi-automatic pistols manufactured or delivered to any licensed firearms dealer in the State of New York to be capable of microstamping ammunition by January 1, 2011. Over 100 law enforcement agencies and elected officials from across the state have endorsed Assemblywoman Schimel’s microstamping bill.
