Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C-East Shore) will be presenting a new POW/MIA flag to veteran Danny DiTonno this coming Thursday. Mr. DiTonno, who fought in World War II, woke up on the morning after Memorial Day to learn that his POW/MIA flag was stolen from the flagpole in front of his house. Assemblywoman Malliotakis learned of the theft upon reading Mr. DiTonno’s letter to the editor in the Staten Island Advance on June 5, 2012, and immediately sought out a replacement. Assemblywoman Malliotakis will be assisted by members of the Korean War Veterans, Allan F. Kivlehan Chapter, in restoring the flag to its rightful place atop Mr. DiTonno’s flagpole.
