Assemblyman Pete Lopez has announced the 2007 Greenway Trail Grant program, which will provide municipalities and not-for-profit organizations within the Hudson River Valley Greenway financial assistance for enhancing recreational trails.
“Recreation and tourism are vital to our economy and our quality of life,” said Lopez. “The Hudson Valley is rich in scenic beauty and I encourage all eligible groups to apply to give more people the ability to enjoy what our region has to offer.”
Municipalities and not-for-profit corporations within Ulster and Greene counties outside of the Catskill Park are eligible for Greenway Conservancy funds. Grant requests must range from $1,000 to $5,000 for projects involving one municipality, and up to $10,000 for projects involving two or more municipalities. The grants must be matched by applicants, and all funding must be used for one or more of the following: trail planning, construction and amenities, historic landscape preservation, regional and local partnership development or resource enhancement and economic development projects.
Applications must be received or postmarked by 4:00 pm on September 7th and should be mailed to Hudson River Valley Greenway, Capitol Building, Room 254, Albany, NY 12224. For more information, you may call Hudson River Valley Greenway at (518) 473-3835, or Lopez’ office at (518) 943-1371.
