Assemblyman Pete Lopez Hard At Work Despite Inaction By Leaders On State Budget

April 8, 2010
Assemblyman Pete Lopez (R, C, I – Schoharie) recently met with the Scott family of Saugerties to view the final stages of a home modification project that will help daughter Cassandra, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, stay in the family home.

“This project has been a very moving experience, and I am honored that the Scott Family sought my help and that I was able to assist them,” said Assemblyman Lopez.

The Scott family reached out to Assemblyman Lopez seeking his assistance in obtaining a grant to make their home handicapped-accessible for their 12-year-old daughter. Without installation of ramps and modifications around the home, Cassandra would have not been able to get around the house, and the family would have been hard-pressed to continue care in the home.

Fortunately, Assemblyman Lopez was able to assist the family and they are now in the final stages of renovations, allowing their daughter to stay at home with them.

Assemblyman Lopez stated, “Even as we work to address statewide issues surrounding the economy and the budget, it’s critical that we also stay focused on the needs of families, farms and businesses. I consider this work just as vital, perhaps even more so, as my work in Albany, and will continue to pour efforts into supporting the communities I serve in the 127th Assembly District.”
