January 17, 2011

Assemblyman Pete Lopez stands with his wife, Lisa, family members and Schoharie County Judge George Bartlett III as he is sworn in at an official installation ceremony recently conducted before a gathering of some 200 people at the Schoharie County Court House.

Residents, farm and business leaders, as well as state and local officials traveled as much as two hours from the Mid-Hudson, Northern Catskills and Southern Tier to be part of the event.

Schoharie Mayor John Borst served as the master of ceremonies. The event was led by a color guard comprised of American Legion, VFW and AM Vets as well as area Boy Scout organizations. The National Anthem was sung by Scott Barton of Cobleskill, with Pastors Mike and Sherri Meyer-Veen of the Schoharie Reformed Church and Father Thomas Holmes of Our Lady R.C. Church providing inspirational reflections.

In his presentation, the Assemblyman focused on the importance of securing a sound economic future for the state, while bringing the community together as one people to meet the challenges ahead.
