Assemblyman Lopez meets with students and representatives of Stamford Central School, and their School-Based Health Center, outside the Assembly Chamber in Albany.
Assemblyman Pete Lopez welcomed Stamford Central School students to Albany to discuss their School-Based Health Center, which provides critical healthcare access in underserved rural areas. The Assemblyman met with the students to discuss the importance of the program and explore the idea of allowing schools to expand outreach throughout the community to help ensure more citizens have access to preventive and well-care services. “These students understand and have ownership of the importance of ensuring the good health of our community. I am a strong proponent of this initiative, and plan to continue working with them to improve upon this model for other counties across New York State,” said Assemblyman Lopez, who is considering drafting legislation toward that end.
