Assemblyman Ramos Announces ReCharge New York Will Spur Economic Development in Suffolk

Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Central Islip) announced that several local businesses will receive capital investments through New York’s statewide initiative ReCharge New York (RNY). The program was created to replace two existing initiatives, the Power for Jobs and Energy Cost Savings Benefit programs, both of which expire on June 30.

“ReCharge New York will help ease the burden of increasing utility costs for businesses committed to creating and retaining jobs here in Suffolk,” Assemblyman Ramos said. “By offering low-cost power to local businesses, we help retain and create nearly 21,000 jobs here in Suffolk.”

Available July 1, the new low-cost power initiative will designate capital investments to businesses who hire and retain new workers.

The governor announced the following local businesses and organizations were approved for low-cost power allocations:

  • Air Industries Group Inc.
  • Broadridge Financial Solutions
  • U.S. Nonwovens Corporation
  • Royal Windows Mfg Manufacturing Corporation

These four businesses have committed to create and retain over 2,200 jobs, and nearly 21,000 jobs will be retained or created in Suffolk County as a result of ReCharge New York, Ramos added.

“ReCharge New York is a sustainable solution to a growing problem,” Assemblyman Ramos said. “It gives our local businesses the breathing room they need to hire new workers, getting our families back to work and spurring economic growth in our community.”
