Assemblymember Steck: Upstate Casinos Will Help Spur Local Economy
June 20, 2013
“Today, the Assembly passed legislation that will allow the Capital Region and New York State to compete with other areas in neighboring states and Canadian provinces. Adding a casino location in our region will provide additional revenue to local municipalities to help lessen the tax burden on property owners and provide much needed funding to education.
“It is also important that this legislation does include safeguards that will protect local entertainment venues such as Proctors. Also included in this legislation is a requirement for all casinos to develop a comprehensive problem gambling program. We need to make sure that anyone with a gambling problem has access to resources to overcome the problem.”
