Palmesano Honors Outstanding Young Scholar

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) said today that he was pleased to honor Simone Green on her recent trip to the Capitol. Green was in Albany to be honored at the USA Today Phi Theta Kappa All New York Academic Awards ceremony held at the New York State Museum. After the ceremony, Palmesano introduced Green and her family on the Assembly floor and highlighted her considerable accomplishments.

“Gifted students like Simone, who work hard to succeed and improve their communities, deserve our recognition,” said Palmesano. “She is an excellent role model for young students in our community, and I wish her and her family all of the best going forward.”

An accelerated, home-schooled student through high school, Green enrolled in courses at Corning Community College at the age of 13. She has maintained a 3.69 grade point average. At the age of 15, she earned an associate’s degree in mathematics and science. Green recently transferred to SUNY Geneseo. She plans to major in geology and minor in political science. Green wants to pursue a career in government, and her plans may include living and working abroad.
