Assemblyman Phil Boyle (R,I,C – Bay Shore) recently presented Owen Murtagh, President of Compression Socks of Bay Shore, with a proclamation in recognition of his $10,000 donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Mr. Murtagh, a retired U.S. Marine, made the donation to the Wounded Warriors Project after learning more about the organization and how their programs help aid service members returning home with combat-related injuries. In previous years, Mr. Murtagh had spent approximately $10,000 to purchase holiday gift baskets for his clients and customers. This year, he decided to use the $10,000 to make a donation to the organization to help them continue their mission. The idea was met with overwhelming support from those who normally received the baskets.
“We would like to commend Mr. Murtagh for his generous donation to the Wounded Warriors Project and for his service to our country,” said Boyle. “It is a great honor to have a patriot in our community such as Mr. Murtagh showing support for our returning troops who have sustained serious injuries in combat.”
