Western New York Scores Huge Victory With Economic Development Awards
Assemblyman Ray Walter (R,C,I-Amherst) issued the following statement:
December 9, 2011
Last week, I joined a number of my Assembly Minority colleagues in writing to Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy about the potential our region has to turn New York’s economy around if we were to receive proper funding from the statewide Economic Development Council. With the Western New York regional council receiving a Best Plan Award, and over $100 million for job growth and economic recovery, we have made our voices heard loud and clear. With the funding won through statewide competitive grants, we will be able to invest in job-creating infrastructure projects, while strengthening perhaps our greatest economic resource – the University at Buffalo. I applaud the members of the Western New York council for assembling such a comprehensive plan, and I am pleased to see state government committing its energy and resources on the job creation that Western New Yorkers so desperately need.
