Pair Of Local Children Exemplify True Meaning Of Giving
July 26, 2013

Assemblyman Ray Walter joins the Malburg family with their donations for the Christmas in July toy drive.

Assemblyman Ray Walter’s (R,C,I-Amherst) Christmas in July toy drive to benefit Kaleida Health’s Women & Children's Hospital received a very special donation from a pair of local children who exemplify the true meaning of “giving.” Tyler and Ryan Malburg, ages three and six respectively, donated a box of new and unused toys to the children, who they have a unique bond with. Tyler was born at the hospital, spending over two weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit dealing with oxygen desaturation, a breathing complication, and will return for a major surgery to address his kidney reflux this November. Tyler and Ryan’s parents, Sarah and Andy Malburg, who expressed their deep gratitude to the doctors and staff at the hospital, helped organize the donation to show their children the joy they can bring to kids just like them.

“The Malburg family understands firsthand both the incredible, life-saving work done at the Women and Children’s Hospital, as well as the power of bringing a smile to the face of the children who reside there,” said Walter. “Tyler has shown tremendous courage battling his physical ailments, and Ryan has been the kind of supportive big brother that any child would be lucky to have. I thank the Malburg family for their contribution to our toy drive and for showing our community the true meaning of giving.”

Assemblyman Walter will hold a press conference in conjunction with the delivery of the gifts donated during the Christmas in July toy drive at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31 at Women & Children’s Hospital, 219 Bryant Street in Buffalo.
