Assemblyman Ray Walter presents new flag to Amherst veterans.
Assemblyman Ray Walter (R,C,I-Amherst) today presented a new American flag to local veterans in a brief ceremony at the Amherst Veterans Memorial in Amherst State Park. With the old flag becoming weathered and torn over the years, the memorial was in desperate need of a new flag. Walter humbly expressed his gratitude for all local veterans’ service in a speech given at the ceremony.
“The men and women represented in this memorial are the epitome of bravery and heroism. Many enlisted in a time of war, proudly served multiple tours of duty and made sacrifices most of us cannot begin to imagine,” said Walter. “I want to thank all of our veterans, including American Legion representatives Joe Orzechowski and Pauline Fletcher. I would also like to thank Deputy Supervisor Guy Marlette for having brought this matter to my attention.”
