Statement by Assemblyman Robin Schimminger on the Huntley Announcement

Assemblyman Robin Schimminger issued the following statement today in reaction to Governor Pataki’s announcement concerning NRG Energy’s Huntley Generating Station in the Town of Tonawanda:
“The selection of the Huntley Plant as the site of the state’s Advanced Clean Coal Power Plant Initiative is a significant win-win-win for Western New York. It solidifies a partnership between the state, NRG, other local industries and the University at Buffalo in developing 21st Century technologies to produce clean-coal energy at a “reinvented” Huntley plant. This project will be an important step in rejuvenating our local economy, preparing for future energy needs and addressing environmental concerns.”
