State Funding to Aid Two NT Projects

April 29, 2008
Assemblyman Robin Schimminger announced today that he has secured $32,000 in state funding for two projects being undertaken by the City of North Tonawanda.

A $14,000 grant will be used for improvements to the drainage system at the popular Farmer’s Market. The Robinson Street market is among the state’s most successful and draws eager Western New Yorkers Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Funding in the amount of $18,000 will aid in the completion of restroom renovations at Pinewoods Park. Pinewoods is one of North Tonawanda’s most beautiful and highly used parks and includes a softball field, playground, basketball court and two shelters. Restroom renovations were begun with funding secured by Assemblyman Schimminger in last year’s state budget, and this year’s improvements will include the installation of doors and ramps to improve accessibility.

“The Farmer’s Market and Pinewoods Park are community treasures that help make North Tonawanda a wonderful place to live. I am glad that I was able to respond to Mayor Larry Soos’ request for help with improvements to both of these facilities,” said Schimminger.
