Assemblyman Robin Schimminger announced today that the New York State Library has awarded construction grants to two local libraries.
The City of Tonawanda Public Library on Main Street in Tonawanda, part of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, was awarded $28,147 for reconstruction of the library’s front entryway, including replacement of glass windows, reconstruction of flooring, and replacement of ceiling and lights.
The Nioga Library System’s North Tonawanda Public Library on Meadow Drive in North Tonawanda will receive $72,308. The funds will be used for the reconstruction of the existing space to create a new floor plan in the library, purchase of furniture and carpeting for the newly renovated space, and rehabilitation of the parking lot.
“I’m very pleased that these local libraries will benefit from the funding for public library capital projects we appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2008 state budget,” said Schimminger.
