Assemblywoman Sandy Galef has secured an additional $415,145 in school aid for 5 schools in the 90th Assembly District. This additional aid will be added to the $5,890,346 gained by the schools when the education budget was voted on in Albany last week.
The majority of the new aid will go to the Peekskill and Putnam Valley School Districts. Peekskill Schools will receive an additional $235,986 and Putnam Valley Schools an additional $164,768. A small increase in aid will go to Haldane, $4,770, to Garrison, $5,048, and to Briarcliff, $4,573.
"The state education budget has delivered a total of $93,046,326 to the 10 school districts that I represent," stated Galef. "Every dollar that comes from the state helps the local property taxpayers keep their money for other needs. It is important that we continue to fund our educational systems with as much state support as possible rather than relying on property tax."
