The news media is invited to attend the official vote tally for the statewide butterfly contest which garnered nearly 35,000 votes from third, fourth and fifth grade students across New York.
The tally will take place on Monday, January 7th, 2008 at the Town of Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, at 3:30 pm.
State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will host the news conference. The votes will be tallied by Cortlandt Town Clerk Joanne Dyckman who will announce the winner to the public. Karina Franke, a fourth grade student at Furnace Woods School in Cortlandt Manor who originally wrote to Galef proposing that the Karner Blue be designated the official butterfly of New York, will also be present with her parents, as will State Senator Vincent Leibell.
