Assemblywoman Galef to Hold Small Business Forum Targeted at Reinvigorating the Economy in Westchester and Putnam Counties
To help her constituents find solutions in tough economic times, Assemblywoman Sandy Galef is hosting a forum on small business start-up and growth opportunities on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 from 7:30-9:30 A.M. at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor.
Galef will be joined by Anne Janiak, Executive Director of the Women’s Enterprise Development Center Inc., Michael Jones-Bey, Executive Director of the Division of Minority and Women Business Development for the Empire State Development Corp., Jerry Klein, CEO of Mahopac National Bank, Marjorie Finer from the Alliance of Hudson Valley Women Business Owners, Mildred Polite Smith, Compliance Officer for the New York State Comptroller’s Office, Paul Quintero, CFO and COO of ACCION, a micro finance institution, and representatives from local business support groups.
Representatives from SCORE-Counselors to America’s Small Business, an adjunct of SBA, as well as Community Capital Resources, a local Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), will also be available for questions and to explain their services.
Panelists will discuss resources they offer specifically designed to help start or grow small businesses for people to gain economic self-sufficiency and prosperity through entrepreneurship.
The panelists will explain how their organizations can assist with topics such as financial planning and business organization, how to work with New York State, how to find financing alternatives, and more. There will also be resources and information available at booths following the discussion, with a special focus on women and minorities.
