"Speak Out" with Assemblywoman Sandy Galef Presents Property Tax Relief Forum with Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef and Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi Hear Taxpayer Concerns at the Property Tax Relief Forum in Croton, January 2009.

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef invited Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi to her district in January to share the NYS Commission on Property Tax Relief’s final report. Mr. Suozzi chaired the Commission, which was asked to discover the causes of New York State’s high property taxes.

The Commission was also asked to recommend solutions, which included a property tax cap, mandate relief for schools, and a circuit breaker program. The forum, which took place on January 22 at Croton Village Hall, was open to the public and guests were encouraged to share their feedback regarding the recommendations.

Assemblywoman Galef will be broadcasting January’s forum on her cable television show “Speak Out with Sandy Galef.” The special will be airing in two parts consecutively for the next two months. The Assemblywoman hopes to continue exploring this issue in the upcoming months and discussing how best to relieve her constituents’ property tax burdens.
