New York State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will be hosting a series of town meetings throughout her district starting Thursday, January 19th. These annual meetings provide an opportunity for Galef to share legislative proposals with her constituents as well as hear feedback from constituents on state and local issues.
The first town meeting will be held at the Ossining Public Library on Thursday, January 19th at 7 pm, followed by two town meetings on Saturday, January 21st, first at the Desmond-Fish Library in Garrison from 11 am, then at the Field Library in Peekskill at 2 pm. The subsequent week, Galef will hold meetings on Thursday, January 26th at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library in Montrose at 7 pm, then on Saturday, January 28th at the Putnam Valley Free Library at 10 am and the Kent Public Library at 1 pm. Constituents are invited to attend as many of these meetings as they would like, to hear views from others in different parts of the Assembly District.
“I hope to see many constituents at my annual town meetings. There is always a lively discussion on what steps should be taken to improve our communities and New York State, and I appreciate hearing what all attendees have to say,” Galef said.
Galef plans to initiate discussions on topics such as the upcoming state budget, hydrofracking for natural gas, mandate relief, and the new progressive tax rates, as well as other issues which constituents would like to discuss.
If a town meeting is cancelled in one municipality due to weather, community members are free to attend another town meeting on a different date, as no snow make-up dates have been planned. If the weather is inclement, please call Galef’s district office at (914) 941-1111 or the local library for an update on whether or not the meeting will proceed as scheduled.
