Assemblywoman Galef Discusses “Saving Our Natural Resources: Water” on her “Dear Sandy” TV Show

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef hosts Jordan Valdina, an engineer from Synergy Design, and Ming Wang, a citizen advocate for improving wastewater infrastructure, on her television show, “Dear Sandy.” Galef discusses New York’s deteriorating wastewater infrastructure, ways to improve it, and save money in doing so, with Valdina and Wang.

New water saving technologies allow for a community’s preciously wasted water to be safely filtered and reused - for example for irrigating crops and gardens. Recycled water often comes from sinks and showers and in other parts of the world has been shown to be safe to reuse. Through reusing normally wasted water, our demand for clean water can be met and the strain on our wastewater infrastructure can be reduced. Out of all the water on Earth, only 1 percent is usable by humans, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Preserving as much fresh water as possible is a priority for a sustainable future.

“Ming and Jordan highlighted some excellent approaches to wastewater management which we must seriously consider,” Galef said. “In addition, this is an opportunity to save money and benefit our environment and community.”
