Assemblywoman Sandy Galef is joined by CarlLa Horton and Gina Curcuru to discuss Hope’s Door and how they support teen and domestic abuse victims and their families.

On the most recent episode of “Speak Out”, Assemblywoman Sandy Galef interviews Hope’s Door Executive Director, CarlLa Horton and Coordinator of their Teen Dating Abuse Program, Gina Curcuru. Hope’s Door sponsors specific programs, shelters and buildings around Westchester County which are utilized by people of all ages who have been victims of abuse.

Hope’s Door is an outreach organization for teens and adults alike where they can receive help when they feel it is most needed. Whether there are obvious signs of physical, emotional or mental abuse or they are questioning the respect, equality or trust in their relationship, Hope’s Door never turns away a victim. Hope’s Door has four locations in Ossining, in White Plains and at their main office building in Pleasantville and a shelter in northern Westchester County as well as a twenty four hour hotline.

“No one should have to suffer from domestic violence,” says Assemblywoman Galef. “By getting the word out about the signs to look for, how to get out of an abusive relationship and offering support to their families, my guests from Hope’s Door are really helping the community by making it a safer and healthier place to live.”
