On July 29, 2003, Governor Pataki signed a bill that will reimburse the Garrison Union Free School District for a portion of the cost of bus transportation for the school year 2001-2002. This aid is given to rectify an inconsistency in compliance with state regulations.
This legislation, Chapter 215, was A.7128/S.2998 and was sponsored by Assemblywoman Sandy Galef (90th AD) and State Senator Vinnie Leibell.
The new law provides additional funding for Garrison bus transportation, in the amount of approximately $32,000.
"Without this specialized legislation, some of Garrison’s public transportation aid would have been jeopardized," Senator Vinnie Leibell said, "I am pleased that we were able to assist the school district."
"I am delighted that the Garrison school district is going to receive these extra funds. It is important that the legislature does all it can to help our local school district and especially assist local school taxpayers. This new law does just that by bringing more state dollars to Garrison Schools," commented Galef.
