Speaker Silver Statement On Cancer Coverage For 9/11 First Responders
February 15, 2012
It is past time for cancer treatments to be fully covered for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line working at the World Trade Center site. I applaud the Mayor’s decision to turn over the records of 9/11 first responders to the panel studying whether cancer should be covered by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. We as a nation have a moral obligation to provide the fullest possible coverage to those who sacrificed their health for the sake of our city and our nation. There should be no more debate: 9/11 first responders ought to be covered, period.
